Swansea Universtiy ตั้งอยู่ในเมือง Swansea ซึ่งเป็นเมืองชายฝั่งทางตอนใต้ของประเทศอังกฤษ ห่างจากลอนดอนออกไปราว 3 ชั่วโมง มีประชากรราว 230,000 คน มหาวิทยาลัยก่อตั้งขึ้นในปีค.ศ. 1920 ปัจจุบันมีนักศึกษาราว 12,700 คน ในจำนวนนี้มีนักศึกษานานาชาติราว 2,000 คน ได้รับการจัดอันดับโดย The Time University ในปีค.ศ. 2008 ให้อยู่ในอันดับที่ 46 จากมหาวิทยาลัย 109 แห่ง และในปีค.ศ. 2005 ยังได้รับรางวัล Best Student Experience นอกจากนี้ยังติดอันดับ 1 ใน 500 มหาวิทยาลัยที่ดีที่สุดในโลก ในปีค.ศ. 2006 โดย Shanghai Jiao Tong University World Ranking
